The School of Law and Policy, University of Management and Technology Lahore was pleased to have announced a Guest Speaker Lecture on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), aimed at fostering critical dialogue on gender equality, human rights, and legal reform.
The session, which was held on 30th March 2026 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Venue: 6L03, provided students, academics, and legal professionals with an opportunity to engage with one of the most significant international frameworks addressing discrimination against women.
The keynote speaker for this session was Aneeza Yasin, a distinguished human rights activist and academic with an extensive background in gender studies and public policy. She held an M.A. in Political Science, M.Sc. in Gender Studies, and an M.Phil. in Gender Studies from the University of the Punjab, and was a Gold Medalist in Human Rights.Her expertise and practical insights made her an engaging and impactful speaker.
The lecture offered valuable perspectives on the implementation and significance of CEDAW in contemporary legal systems, particularly within the context of Pakistan. Participants gained a deeper understanding of gender-based discrimination, international legal obligations, and the role of legal professionals in advancing human rights.
