Dr. Niels Petersen [Professor of Public Law, International Law, and EU Law, University of Münster] taught a short course, titled "International Investment Law," from 17 November 2016 to 20 November 2016, at UMT School of Law and Policy [SLP].
The course gave an introduction to the basic legal concepts of international investment law, its the legal and the political dimensions, and the system of dispute resolution. Afterwards, the instructor explained why states conclude BITs and whether it is rational--- in particular, for developing countries--- to do so. Finally, the instructor gave a critique of international investment law and discussed the proposals for reform.
This was Prof. Petersen's third trip to SLP.
