Monday, June 25, 2018

Dr. Pierre-Emmanuel Audit [Professor, University Paris-2 Pantheon-Assas] taught a short-course, titled "Introduction to Civil Law and French Law," at UMT School of Law and Policy [SLP], on the invitation of Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [Founding Director and Associate Professor, SLP], from 25 June 2018 to 28 June 2018.

The course was divided into the following modules:
1. The first module took the students through the evolutions which shaped the civil law system, from its very beginning in Rome to the advent of the Napoleonic code in the XIXth century.
2. The second module introduced the students to the French constitutional history (starting at the French Revolution) and then to the current constitution of France.
3. The third module was dedicated to the French judicial system.
4. The fourth module was dedicated to a brief presentation of the classification and contents of legal topics in France, with a focus on private law.

Prof. Audit awarded his own certificates to the students who attended the course.

On 25 June 2018, before the inaugural session of the course, Prof. Audit shared with the students that he was with Prof. Asad in the LL.M. class of 2007 at Harvard Law School (HLS) and that he agreed to teach at SLP and to explore possibilities of collaboration, between Paris-2 and SLP, because of his long association with Prof. Asad.

SLP is the only Pakistani law school that regularly invites European and North American law professors and lawyers to teach short-courses on different fields of law.
