he School of Law and Policy at University of Management and Technology hosted a distinguished Guest Speaker Lecture titled:

“Judicial Discretion in Granting Specific Performance under the Specific Relief Act 1877: Balancing Equity and Certainty in Pakistani Contract Law.”

The event took place on 8th April 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, at Venue 6L03, University of Management and Technology, Lahore.

This academic session provided an in-depth exploration of the evolving role of judicial discretion in granting specific performance under Pakistani contract law. The lecture critically examined how courts navigate the delicate balance between equitable considerations and the need for legal certainty, particularly under the Specific Relief Act 1877. It proved to be an intellectually enriching experience for students, legal practitioners, and academics alike.

The session was delivered by Ms. Amina Siddique, a highly accomplished legal professional, academic, and human rights advocate. At the time, she was serving as the Head of Department at Sage Law College and brought with her a wealth of experience in legal education, research, and practice. She held an LL.B from Pakistan College of Law and an LL.M from The Superior College, Lahore.

Ms. Siddique had previously served as a Lecturer at the Academy of Law and had been associated with reputable legal firms, including Mamdot & Co., Raza Law Firm, and Mian Muhammad Jahangir Law Associates. Her expertise spanned legal research, advocacy, and litigation, enabling her to effectively bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and the practical application of the law.

The lecture offered a valuable opportunity to engage with contemporary legal issues and allowed participants to gain meaningful insights from a seasoned expert in the field. Attendees benefited significantly from the scholarly discourse and interactive engagement.
