On 02 March 2018, UMT School of Law and Policy [SLP] signed an MOU, regarding academic collaboration, with Centre for International Investment and Commercial Arbitration [CIICA]. According to the MOU, the scope of collaboration between SLP and CIICA will include, among other things: (1) jointly organizing conferences, seminars, panel discussions, and lectures; (2) jointly organizing courses and trainings; and (3) research collaboration.
SLP was represented by Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [LL.M. (Harvard); Advocate, High Court; Founding Director and Associate Professor], CIICA was represented by Rana Sajjad Ahmad [LL.M. (Columbia); Advocate, High Court; Founder and President].
After signing the MOU, Professor Asad and Mr. Ahmad also called upon the Rector of University of Management and Technology, Dr. Muhammad Aslam [Ph.D. (Purdue)]. Faiqa Ibrahim [LL.M. (McGill); Assistant Professor, SLP] and Nadia Ahmad [LL.M. (Michigan); Assistant Professor, SLP] were also present during the meeting.
Prof.Dr. Aslam appreciated SLP’s ever growing linkages, due to Prof. Asad’s efforts, with Pakistani and foreign law faculties and organizations. He also appreciated CIICA’s accomplishments, due to Mr. Ahmad’s efforts, in the field of arbitration. He assured Prof. Asad and Mr. Ahmad that UMT would fully support all the joint activities by SLP and CIICA.
