On 01 September 2016, SLP's delegation, lead by Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [Founding Director and Associate Professor, SLP], was hosted at the Belgian Federal Parliament by Petra de Sutter [Senator, Belgian Federal Parliament] and Steven Vanackere [Senator, Belgian Federal Parliament]. Peter Claes [Head of South Asian Affairs, Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs] was also present.
Senator De Sutter, Senator Vanackere, Mr. Claes, and Professor Asad discussed extremism and radicalization in Belgium and in Pakistan, and possible ways of adressing these problems. They also discussed the situation of Muslims in Europe and the situation of non-Muslims in Pakistan. The Senators and Mr. Claes highly appreciated Professor Asad's candidness and eloquence, and were most impressed by his zeal to ensure the best possible exposure for his students. Professor Asad thanked the Senators for hosting SLP's delegation and, consequently, allowing his students an opportunity to visit the Parliament and to interact with them. Professor Asad also expressed his gratitude to Mr. Claes for arranging the meeting.
