The screening was followed by a discussion, lead by Prof. Asad, about the similarities between the 16th century Catholic Church and the present-day Islam; Luther’s approach towards religion; and the similarities between Luther’s approach towards religion and those of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Sir Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Muhammad Asad.
The movie is about the 16th century German monk, Martin Luther, who rejected the materialism prevalent in the Catholic Church; translated the scriptures in the language of the people in order for them to understand the message of God; and, ultimately, brought about the Protestant Reformation.
