On 29 April 2015, Mujtaba Jamal [Bar-at-Law (Lincoln's Inn); Advocate, High Court] gave a talk on his experiences in corporate governance at a government company.The participants comprised of law students, lawyers, and law professors.Mr. Jamal began by stating that he would focus on the practical implementation of the Code of Corporate Governance. He added that the Code itself was easily available online for all to access and in his opinion it was more important to discuss the practical implementation of the Code. He went on to discuss three core aspects of corporate governance which included birth of a company, power relations in a company, and the evolution and culture of corporate governance. These aspects were individually discussed in detail. The speaker mentioned that the birth of a company was an inherently complex matter. He further discussed that the interests of a company have to be dealt by a group of people that includes shareholders, board of directors and the senior management. Towards the end of the talk, he discussed the culture of corporate governance in Pakistan and spoke about certain matters, with respect to the same, where there is still some room for improvement.Mr. Jamal gave examples from his personal experience reiterating the points mentioned above.In the end, Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [LL.M.
