On 6 January 2014, UMT School of Law and Policy [SLP] hosted a talk, titled "Dynamics of In-House Lawyering," by Ali Asad Nawaz Malik [Former Company Secretary and Head of Legal Affairs, Coca Cola]. The audience mainly comprised of law professors and students.
Mr. Malik began the talk by explaining his background and how he became an in-house lawyer. He discussed in detail the capabilities he had to develop to excel in the field. He also compared in-house legal departments with law firms. Mr. Malik stressed that, in addition to excellent communication skills, one must be business savvy and comfortable with numbers in order to have a successful in-house career.
The talk was followed by a Q&A session. In the end, Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [Founding Director and associate Professor, SLP] thanked Mr. Malik for taking out time to share his views and expertise on the matter.
