Talk on religion and law at Erlangen

On 16 April 2018, as part of the ongoing collaboration between UMT School of Law and Policy [SLP] and Erlangen Center for Islam and Law in Europe [EZIRE], Friedrich Alexander Universitat [FAU], Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [Founding Director and Associate Professor, SLP] gave a talk, titled "Religion and Law in Pakistan," at FAU, Erlangen, Germany. Along with graduate and doctoral candidates, Dr. Mathias Rohe [Professor, Faculty of Law, FAU; Founder, EZIRE], Dr. Klaus Ulrich Schmolke [Professor, Faculty of Law, FAU], and Dr. Jorn Thielmann [Director, EZIRE] attended Prof. Asad’s talk.

From the beginning, Prof. Asad kept the talk frank and interactive. Consequently, the students and the faculty freely engaged with him on a wide range of issues related to the topic.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Rohe appreciated Prof. Asad’s knowledge of the topic and his candid responses to the various questions raised and comments made by the audience. Prof. Dr. Rohe remarked that Prof. Asad’s style was a new and useful experience for the graduate and doctoral candidates at FAU.

Prof. Asad is the first law professor from Pakistan to speak at FAU.
