On 24 March 2017, as part of the ongoing collaboration between UMT School of Law and Policy (SLP) and Faculty of Law, Heidelberg University (Heidelberg), Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [Founding Director and Associate Professor, SLP] gave a talk, titled “Religion and Law in Pakistan,” at Faculty of Law, Heidelberg.
The audience comprised of doctoral candidates from Heidelberg and Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (Max Planck).
This was the fourth consecutive year that Prof. Asad was invited by Heidelberg to give a talk. Here is a quick overview of the previous talks given by Prof. Asad at Heidelberg: 1. “Europe and Islamic Law” on 11 March 2016;2. “Islamic Law and Violence” on 03 March 2015; and3. “Islamic Law in Pakistan” on 03 February 2014.
No other Pakistani lawyer or legal academic has ever been invited by Heidelberg for four consecutive years.
