On 02 March 2016, Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [Founding Director and Associate Professor, SLP] gave a talk, titled "Introduction to Islamic Law," to the graduate students at KU Leuven's faculty of law. The talk was hosted by Professor Dr. Eric Dirix [Judge, Supreme Court of Belgium; Professor, KU Leuven].
Prof. Asad explained the basic concept of Islamic law, its sources, scope, and how it is developed. He also discussed issues like criminal law, war and peace, status of women, status of non-Muslims, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, etc.
From the beginning, Prof. Asad encouraged the audience to ask questions and share concerns. This caused numerous interesting discussions between the audience and Prof. Asad. The audience highly appreciated Prof. Asad's interactive style.
