On 11 March 2016, Syed Imad-ud-Din Asad [LL.M. (Harvard); Advocate, High Court; Associate Professor and Founding Director, UMT School of Law and Policy] gave a talk, titled "Europe and Islamic Law," to the graduate students at Faculty of Law, Heidelberg University, Germany. The talk not only focused on the misconceptions about Muslims and Islamic law prevalent in Europe, but it also explained the problems created by Muslim individuals and groups in different European countries.
The talk was more in the form of a discussion. The participants and Prof. Asad explored various possible options to facilitate a mutually beneficial relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims living in Europe. It was stressed that proper awareness and active interaction tremendously help in overcoming prejudices.
The talk was organised by Heidelberg Law NMUN.
It must be mentioned that no other Pakistani law professor has been invited and hosted by Heidelberg for three consecutive years.
