AS PER THE CURRICULAM DESIGNED BY HIGHER EDEUCATION OF PAKISTAN AND PAKISTAN BAR COUNCIL

The curriculum, with varying definitions, is a plan of the teaching-learning process that graduates of an academic programme are required to undergo. It includes objectives and learning outcomes, course contents, scheme of studies, teaching methodologies and methods of assessment of learning. Knowledge in all academic disciplines is expanding and even new disciplines are also emerging, it is imperative that curriculum are developed and revised regularly. (Preface, P5)

The Committee developed the final draft curriculum for the 5- year law degree program along with the Learning Objectives and Learning Outcome (P14)

Program Educational Objectives (PEO's)

PEO 1. Graduates shall possess the required knowledge of the fundamental doctrines and principles of law

PEO 2. Graduates shall be able to demonstrate a broader perspective and the knowledge of the social, political and economic contexts within which the Pakistani and global             legal system operates;

PEO 3. Graduates shall model the intellectual and professional growth, necessary for employment in the legal profession and other careers with professional integrity

PEO 4. Graduates shall demonstrate fully developed theoretical and practical knowledge of the law as well as excellent leadership capabilities to provide quality legal service             to all spheres of endeavor and in all circumstances

PEO 5. Graduates shall be capable to exhibit legal ethics, responsibility, and professional behavior in their social and professional pursuits.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLO's)

The participants suggested that the course contents should place emphasis upon the acquisition and development of a wide range of intellectual and practical skills of graduates so that they can analyze, evaluate, synthesize and apply conceptual information to practical legal problems.

It was agreed that attention is needed to develop the intellectual and practical skills and in particular law graduates should be able to develop and demonstrate independent thinking, plan and carry out independent research and apply basic legal research skills and research techniques. In addition to that the course contents and the teaching methodology should be such so as to develop the written and oral skills of the graduates, build their capacity to problem-solving and expand their knowledge of information technology.

PLO 1. Legal Knowledge : To acquire & apply legal knowledge to the complex Socio-legal problems. Knowledge of substantive and procedural law.

PLO 2. Professional Practice: to make graduates eligible to practice in Courts, Industries, Companies as legal practitioner.

PLO 3. Professional Skills: To possess professional skills required for legal practice such as Argument, Pleading, drafting, conveyancing etc.

PLO 4. Professional Ethics: To understand and apply principles of professional ethics of legal profession. Skill to participate as respected members of the bar

PLO 5. Legal research & legal reasoning: to develop legal research skills & legal reasoning and apply it during programme & in Legal practice.

PLO 6. Self-reflection & lifelong learning : To develop an attitude of self-reflection while learning and Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to                                                                            engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of changing legal contexts.

PLO 7. Self-employability: To provide a platform of self-employability by developing professional skills in legal industry.

PLO 8. Demonstration of ethical, moral and professional behavior.

PLO 9. To develop leadership qualities amongst graduates.

PLO 10. To create awareness about Constitutional legislative & societal transformation in society to develop clinical abilities.
